How did I contradict myself? I never proposed Chicago.

I also never said that Los Angeles wasn't. You are either taking what I am saying one step further or completely ignoring what I explained.

I hate to break it to you, but if New York City never existed then Philadelphia would have become much larger than they are now to fill that gap. America was settled East to West not East and Los Angeles.
Ok I agree that those two would probably be the leaders if NYC never existed.

Completely disagree that LA couldn't handle the influx, particularly if you think Chicago could.

No need to get snippy, I'm just questioning your fairly vague opinion.

You said that the premier US city would have to be an area with the largest population in which Los Angeles fits that perfectly but yet you said that Los Angeles doesn't qualify?
What other city/msa/csa(besides New York) is larger than the Los Angeles area?

LA is just a city or metro. I meant Bosh-Wash corridor. This our prime area and it is unlikely that the power balance will change.

Yeah but when you are talking about which city would be the premier US city, it would be hard to go against Los Angeles.

Maybe but one of the other Bosh-wash cities would take over. There simply a lot of people and lota of commercial activity on the east çoast.

LA. Everyone voting for Chicago, Phily, or any other city on the poll are just enjoying a wet fantasy. Don't kid yourselves, you have no chance to stack up to the beast that is Los Angeles, California.

if new york city/long island did not exist. new jersey would be the greatest place in the world.

jersey city, newark, hoboken, west new york, and irvington would be the 5 boroughs with jersey city being the now Manhattan, and irvington being the outcast known as staten island.

and the whole new jersey metro area would be merged with the philly, Wilmington metro area.

jersey folks mad lol
