I mean, I definitely agree with Western NY/Upstate NY making your list because people forget that Upstate is very Italian itself (Utica, Syracuse especially), but Buffalo gets the wings bit.
Pizza would definitely go to Utica. I have lived Upstate, NYC and Jersey, and Upstate's Italian food is as good as any downstate.

I like how Buffalo uses spicy cup pepperoni. You also get nice thick slices there.
I think Houston unfairly gets a bad rap about a lot of things, but I would, without hesitation, put Houston in the worst 5 food scenes relative to size of anywhere in America.
