I don't think Boston has much in the way of gritty ghettos. One of the worst neighborhoods of Boston:

Minneapolis and Honolulu and Denver and Salt Lake City and St. Paul get over looked all the time because they are so isolated and people just aren't thinking about them.....

Hats off to Boston and Washington D.C. which is beginning to make a massive effort to catch up with Boston in cleaning up it's urban image , " but I didn't see a single homeless person in the city view " and ( that's California problem ) you see every nut in the United States come to California to be Homeless because they wouldn't freeze up into a " ICE CUBE " during the winter.......Boston Show Me Your Homeless...

Some people in California are talking about making the Homeless live on " Closed Down Old Military Bases " but that's going to be hard to do in the state of California...

I guess we have posters looking at pictures and coming up with their opinions.

Chicago isn't dirty as a whole. Its constantly been recognized as one of the cleanest big cities.

New York and Philly are great cities but they dirty to a degree.

Memphis is dirty. Drive around the city a d you will see paper and you can tell the city hasn't been kept very well.

Dallas is cleaner than Memphis.

Houston is much dirtier than I expected for such a booming metro.

Atlanta is dirty. Nice new sky scrapers wide freeways you think your heading towards this clean modern metropolis and you get off downtown and its filthy!

Indianapolis is clean.

DC is clean.

Minneapolis Seattle and Denver are clean as expected.
