Which state would you say has the most competition among its cities? For example, you would say LA AND SF has good rivalry among best city in Cali, and Texas has FW/Dallas, Houston and even San Antonio and Austin.

Pretty much those two.
Texas and Cali both have SEVERAL major cities, not just one or two, all competing against each other as much as competing together for the state against other states.
I guess LA and San Francisco are supposed to be big rivals, but beyond sports it's hard for me to see. Companies don't usually move from one to the other, if they leave they're more likely to go out of state or out of the country. They might establish a branch in the other region. One of the more unusual versions of this is Diesel bookstore, whose initial site is in Oakland, but then branched to the affluent LA neighborhoods of Malibu and Brentwood.
There are some state funding formulas that establish percentages for Northern and Southern California, so we don't fight about it. Politically, LA and San Francisco are more in synch than either city with the places 100 miles inland from them. LA County has almost half again as many people as the entire Bay Area, so the biggest slug of votes is there.
People travel back and forth all the time, people move back and forth all the time.
There's rivalry between the SFO and LAX airports, especially for international flights. SFO has gained some ground in international flights, having a nicer, more modern, less crowded facility. I believe LAX still has more international flights overall.
Some businesses are clearly dominated by one region or the other. The Bay Area has many filmmakers and musicians, but the movie business and music business are based in LA. For serious Bay Area actors the question is not so much if I move to LA, but when (or can I wangle a way to make it work in New York somehow?). Computers and related "tech" are dominated by Silicon Valley and San Francisco, though LA has a significant sized sector. The very different businesses of aerospace and apparel are mostly in LA.

LA and SF have a rivalry based on baseball. Otherwise, the cities seem pretty agreeable to me. Both seem pretty much consumed with their own affairs and rarely concerned with what's going on in the other place. SF does seem to consider itself to be more beautiful and cosmopolitan. LA seems to think of itself as more urban and stylish. Many live in both over the course of their lives. The two are dramatically different from one another, but share many things that appeal to the same people.
This is in sharp contrast to the Texas rivalry between Houston and Dallas. Those two cities are amazingly similar. Dallas is a bit more offensively full of itself. Houston is more blissfully ignorant of its shortcomings as a city. Each would be incredibly offended by being compared with one another, yet if you dropped anyone from a place with a unique identity in Dallas and told him it was Houston (or vice-versa) he would be hard pressed to tell you otherwise. The difference is the people. Houstonians are a bit more down-to-earth. Dallasites have more delusions of grandeur.
