They sort of do, the Golden Gate Bridge or Space Needle in Seattle
remember the Statue of Liberty was a gift to the US to commemorate the US 100th Birthday and celebrate the open spirit and freedom. The torch was first displayed at the Centenial Worlds Fair in Philadelphia in 1876 (The first US worlds fair) while they built the rst and base in NY Harbor
It is symbolic but also the gesture adds to the significance
but they aren't statues and have no meaning outside of their respective cities.
The statue of Liberty stands for feedom. I don't think the Golden Gate or Seattle tower have that powerful of a meaning.
That's why I believe if this statue were to be bult along the West Coast, it doesn't belong in either of those cities because they already have a symbol of thier city.
The city that gets to host it, would get a jump in tourism and a lot more attention nationally and internationally.
i have this great idea. lets make our own version of the liberty bell and put it in the middle of midtown. maybe it'll attract tourists.
