The 2010 pop would've been just over 1 million. The projections would already have dropped it several thousand below that by now.

A Hennepin/Minneapolis will likely never happen, there are so many individual cities. Fun fact: At last count, I believe there are 300 independent municipalities in the CSA.
There are actually more. There were 334 municipalities in the 11 county Minneapolis - St. Paul MSA, but that didn't include Pierce and St. Croix counties in Wisconsin or the new MN counties that were added to the MSA this past February - Mille Lacs, Sibley and Le Sueur.

Minneapolis - St. Paul MN - WI MSA - 16 Counties
~ 465 municipalities

Minneapolis – St. Paul – St. Cloud MN-WI CSA - 20 Counties
~ 602 municipalities

Both LA and Chicago would go from being cities with high densities of fun areas to cities that 90% suck (besides Santa Monica).

The only city that would turn upwards would be Detroit absorbing its relatively fun and affluent suburbs, same with Phoenix and Miami!

If you want to talk about a lot of municipalities, Allegheny County (Pittsburgh's central county) has 132 JUST IN ONE COUNTY! Talk about be ridiculously divided.

I'm not sure what you mean...

Wayne County has 1.8 Million people. That would put Detroit above Philadelphia, which is in 6th place.
