Boston overall is a more aesthetically attractive city than Philadelphia. However, Rittenhouse Square beats Copley Square.
Yes, I would describe Boston as more polished with much less blight. However, Rittenhouse is home to some of the best architecture in Philly.
I think I've only briefly been through Copley, and it looks like a fabulous space, but I just get more of vibe from Rittenhouse that it is more integrated with the neighborhood.
Agreed! Except Post Office Square seems to be surrounded by all office buildings where Rittenhouse is surrounded by all residential buildings and one hotel.
True. All of the buildings surrounding Post Office Square are offices and a hotel, but there are a good amount of apartments nearby, and there are some pretty large projects being built at the moment too.
I once had an apartment on Sansom Street, just around the corner from Rittenhouse Square. Nice old building that had been allowed to become somewhat run-down (so I could afford it). I was on the top floor. While I lived there, a building south of me, on Walnut Street, burned down, which suddenly gave me a view of part of Rittenhouse Square. Not too shoddy for $450 or whatever I was paying at the time (something in that range).
Not voting, since I don't think I've ever even been to Copley Square.
Does this project still exist? I was researching and its been on hiatus for a while.
It was put on hiatus thanks to the economic crash, but the company (Castleway LLP) is searching for a development partner currently, and just several weeks ago there were workers on site taking soil samples.
bump:
how about a list of attractions:
copley:
b.p.l.
copley place
prudential shops
newbury comics
...
rittenhouse:
park
kimmel center
...
Is Newbury Comics really in Copley Square?
Depending on how we are drawing boundary lines for each, Rittenhouse has far more attractions than the park and Kimmel Center.
