really, i'm more interested in the vibes or culture of both cities.

both are known to be pretty bohemian but quite different from each other. how are they different?

Not a whole lot in common except that both cities have a very large hill (Mont Royal in Montreal and West Hills in Portland) rising behind the downtowns as a backdrop.

Montreal is just a much bigger, older, busier, and more cosmopolitan city. Portland is a more laid back West Coast city.

I would give Vibe and future prospects to Portland. One of the fastest growing areas in america and very educated, very laid back.
