Which city would be better for an AA 2 something college student with a background in customer service. I typically like to stay to myself and will only socially if there's a female that interests me. I prefer a quiet relaxed environment and enjoy the rain. One other thing, does Washington DC/NOVA have any call centers at all? Thanks in advance for any replies and happy holidays.

Either could work, based on those things alone. You'll need to be more specific about what you're looking for.

Definitely DC/NoVA. I went to Dallas and other than the cheaper cost of living, it wasn't too appealing to me. I like the DC area's location, weather, diversity/culture, along with the more liberal vibe than Dallas.

Do you have an issue with Suburban Maryland that you could not include Washington DC/Suburban Maryland/NOVA in the Topic Poll????????

It makes no d-mn sense to exclude Suburban Maryland out of the topic since Suburban Maryland is HUGE part of the Metro DC area..........

Umm, I don't know if I completely understand the hostility but I didn't intentionally exclude anything. I'm from Ca and I'm not completely familiar with DC/NOVA and all it's surrounding areas.

Yea its D.C./Suburban Maryland/Northern Virginia technically and its a very vast, dynamic area that blows Dallas out of the water.

And youre saying this from all the time youve spent in Dallas, correct?

To the OP, I live in Dallas and I have lived in DC. Im a Middle Eastern man married to an Asian woman. If youre considering both DC and NOVA, you have to bring the suburbs in Dallas into the equation too. Both cities have a lot to offer but are very different. I will say this:

1) If youre looking for a more urban experience, then DC will (by far) will be the best of the two. You dont really even need a car there. Dallas doesnt really offer the same type of urban experience. By that same standard, Dallas offers a better standard of living and the cost of living is much more affordable. Dallas is a better bang for your buck city.

2) The food is a wash. Both are excellent eating cities with good variety and regional cuisine.

3) Nightlife is good in both, but different. Dallas is more of a club city with electronic dance music and hispanic nightlife being predominant. DC was an excellent lounge city and has a better upscale AA nightlife scene. Both cities are known for their Gay nightlife as well.

4) Both cities are very multicultural and diverse, but DC/NOVA is more so.

5) If you want a quiet environment, look at Loudon County between DC and Dulles Airport or (for Dallas), Cedar Hill, Plano, Richardson, Irving, or far North Dallas. All very quiet but with easy access to the cities.

6) For call center jobs (or just jobs in general), Dallas blows DC out of the water. The opprotunities are far better in Dallas in just about every industry except government. Remember, the unemployment rate in DC is rising while falling in Dallas.

Hope that helps.

DC. It is more urban and is more liberal.
