Have you been to both? Because the city proper, yes Miami is more dense but in terms of metro, LA is almost 1.5x as dense, and everyone walks in LA and uses public transit. I see nobody walking in Miami unless your downtown and their public transit isn't that great. LA is definitely more urban and more dense.
There is shops on every corner in LA, not in Miami. I love Miami, and moving there next year but I've been to both and it's not even close.
Miami has better beaches, more a "party" city (South Beach), slightly more urban feel, nice intracoastal areas, better quality of roads/infrastructure, and beautiful tropical plants, such as coconuts. Closer to Europe/North East/Caribbean.
Los Angeles has the beauty (ocean, mountains, hills, palm trees), amazing views, better food, shopping (tie), entertainment, "hollywood" feel, skiing 1.5 hour drive, better climate, more diverse and cultural, and more things to see/do.
In comparison to Miami and it is true for the most part.
