Well Miami is much more like Atlanta or Tampa than it is like LA.

Maybe a more valid question would be is how large is the area that is "Southern" in each state?

I personally don't consider Austin or San Antonio to be very Southern, so 2/3 of the Texas Triangle and all points East would apply to me. Though nowadays, I don't know how Southern DFW really is.

For Florida, anything south of I-4 may not be southern. Tampa and Orlando are a bit dicey though and are probably in the same situation DFW and HOU are in.

What definitely can't be excluded from the "South" is East Texas (East of I-45 roughly) and for FL, maybe everything north of FL-44 is definitely southern. Population wise, this may actually match up pretty well.

Houston is far more southern than Orlando and Tampa, that's pretty obvious to me going to the places.

Houston doesn't feel demographically southern. It feels just like your average cosmopolitan major metro area. Even the suburban areas of Houston don't feel as Southern as one would expect. The suburban areas of Tampa-St. Pete and Orlando feel pretty southern IMO.

He's likely white. He goes to US cities to be around his community. It's the same for any race of people from the east. HOU is gonna be very southern to him I guess. To a Latino or Pacifico no and they are 45% of HOU's population overall.

IDK about AA's feelings.

I don't think its that. Even the "white" areas of the HOU area don't feel very Southern at all. It feels distinct from the rest of the South.

To most Black Americans in Houston, Houston is Southern. Same with Tampa, Orlando, and *gasp* Miami.

Apparently the station no longer exists.

I got the impression most Black people in Miami are either of Haitian or Jamaican origin. Are there still plenty of African Americans there?

Houston lines up with Jacksonville/St. Augustine. I already broke this down clearly in my previous post.
