Of course there are other towers going on in addition to the billion dollar projects in the airport and LRT extension.
2nd Skyhouse is going to be starting sooner than later as well, in Charlotte.

Yep, when I grew up there, the 1960 metro population was 348,000. Today the Wasatch Front is 2.4M. Most of the south and west have seen this type of growth. In 1970, my home state of Colorado was 1.8M. Last estimate has us at 5.5M. Went up to see the aspens last weekend from Colorado Springs. Traffic was bumper-to-bumper, one thing we never dealt with back then.

This is essentially the story of many of these cities. When my family moved to Raleigh in the mid 70s, the Triangle was less than half a million and now it's passed 2.1 million. Wake County alone has more than quadrupled since then to well over a million residents today.

There's a really interesting chart on the Nashville metro wiki page that shows how the Metro has grown both in population per county and as the counties were added over time for each Census year since 1950 & ending with the latest 2015 estimates. It would be really interesting to see this sort of mapping over time for each of the metros in this thread.
