Yep. They have great cooks there. Have you been to Greensboro?
I was thinking more along the lines of its architecture and history/historic district.
Not sure about their cooks..? Is there a restaurant/restaurants you have been to in Macon that stood out as having a good chef?
Yes, I've been to the Triad/Greensboro. Not enough times to know the area well enough though.

I grew up in Macon, GA (with my parents whom are currently moving to Greenville, SC). Now that they're retiring they're looking for a similar cost of living but a city with a livelier downtown area with a lot more to do (which Greenville is perfect for). I haven't been back in Macon (for more than a week) for a few years now but I agree that Macon is quite the sleepy town outside of the pretty small downtown area. In addition, after moving around and experiencing other cities/towns I find Macon to be very sprawly and a bit poorly planned out with pockets of activity here and there. You'll find the popular areas are River Crossing Mall area, Downtown, Forsyth Dr, Zebulon Rd, Eisenhower Pkwy, and Lake Tobesofkee. There's some great restaurants all around and I think we have some especially great pizza. My personal favorite is Ingleside Village Pizza which used to be a dark quirky strange pizza joint filled with interesting things on the wall run by some cool hippies who won pizza competitions but seems like it's gone a bit "mainstream" the past few years. Anyway, off topic but hey if anyone is looking to move to Macon right this minute my parents are currently selling an amazing home in a really nice part of town (4bd/2.5bt, ~2800+sqft): 823 Silver Springs Dr. Macon, GA.

Macon does have a more historic downtown than Greensboro with better bones, but Greensboro's downtown appears to be livelier, especially at night along Elm Street. It also seems to have more active uses with the ballpark, Center City Park, and more downtown retail; being flanked by two sizable universities doesn't hurt either.
Downtown Macon has tons of potential. So much great old architecture and those big wide streets! Every time I drive through there I can't help but think how good it could be ... if the city keeps making progress.

JOBS!Thats what is lacking. They have lost several big employers over the years.
I bet that Macon has tons of potential, but it hasn't capitalized on it. It's not been remotely any kind of economic/jobs creator to be a "giant" etc and it's population growth is tepid at best. It doesn't seem to capitalize on being relatively close to Atlanta.

Wouldn't that title go to Savannah?
Macon's is larger, believe it or not.
