That's cool, but at least around here, this is uncommon. And "native American" is unheard of - I have a lot of Indian (American) friends and they always laugh at that one.

^Haha! Funny video. For a collective term, I prefer to call myself Native American rather than American Indian or Indian. Other than that I name out my three tribes.

Because that is what they are, Native Americans is not the correct term when talking about Indians.

The USA has 300 plus million Native Americans.

These numbers are big underestimates since most immigrants from Mexico and Central America are descended from Indians. However, on Census forms these groups usually choose 'Other' or 'White' since they usually have European ancestry as well. In the LA Metro, there's several million people from Latin America, and while some of them may have 100% Spanish or African ancestors, the vast majority have some Indian ancestors. It's easy to see that the real number of Indians is much higher than what is listed in the Census.
