I vote Jacksonville. Dallas is pricey, and they don't have a beach. Your kids will love being able to go to Disney World in just a couple hours. There is upscale shopping in Jax as well as a riverfront experience. Some nightlife, a good zoo, plenty of good restaurants.
Dallas beats Jacksonville in everything that's in bold.

Ummm...the beach is really the only thing Jacksonville has over Dallas. Jacksonville cant touch Dallas in nightlife and restaurants.
Oh, please.
I was just visiting friends a couple of weekends ago in Ponte Vedra Beach and the water was anything but brown. Although I voted Dallas, Jacksonville has much more to offer than most realize.
Yeah I don't know what he's talking about there. Ponte Vedra and Atlantic/Neptune Beach are fine.
I will say Jacksonville is always sold short on CD. It's not a terrible place at all, outside of the NFL.
Thank you so much for the thoughtful replies! They are very helpful.
I'm bummed because it appears Jacksonville is out of the running, at least for now, so Dallas is the likelier destination!
