Pros-Obviously atlantic city is the east coast Mecca of gambling with proximity to NYC and Philly and cheap flights provided by spirt airlines that connect Florida boston and Chicago to ACY and of course the being on the coast.
Cons high crime and more competition In the area.

LV Americas playground better nightlife

Cons- very remote but very accessible from every major city by plane.

Wanted to see how others feel about these two gambling cities

I'd imagine no one travels to the east-coast to see Atlantic City. In a way, Atlantic City is regional. While on the flip side, Vegas not only gets folks from all across the US, it also get's tourist from around the globe.

Actually they do, but it's mostly people who like the whole gambling atmosphere. Someone not so interested in gambling probably would not come to the area just for AC. I know it sounds quite obvious but it's true. Someone who likes gambling and the beach (and the boardwalk, I guess since it is the world's first and largest) would absolutely travel to the area just to visit AC and nothing else.

Las Vegas is internationally recognized. Atlantic City, or any other casino city in America doesn't come close.

Las Vegas definitely has global weight, but you'd be surprised how many folks are familiar with AC (it helps that AC was the 2nd US gambling mecca for decades and that it's as old as it is as a resort town). Vegas is more of a traditional large city whereas AC is a small resort town fronting as a large city.

The ONLY people on here who are going to say anything good about Atlantic City is people in the Northeast, and that's expected. Hate to tell you guys, but nobody else in America -- NOBODY! -- outside of the Bosh-Wash corridor gives AC a passing thought, much less has any desire to go there. If not for the handful of casinos still in operation, AC would be a ghost town. It practically is already.

Las Vegas is a true global tourism and entertainment mecca, like Orlando. Atlantic City is a sad, broken down city that, if not for the game of Monopoly, nobody would know anything about at all.

Yea. Been to vegas many times. Moved to DC and it took me four years to finally get over to AC and check it out. AC is a run down boardwalk with a few very unimpressive casinos. I like the east coast and love living here and love all there is to do here, but a lot of things in DC, Boston, Philly and NYC are overrated by those on the east coast (you can find as good or better things in flyover country!). For example, the "National" Zoo sucks compared to the Omaha Zoo. Or there are no mountains out here people . Just little things like that.

Atlantic City is a mess and it looks like it is a "has been". There is no comparison to Las Vegas, even AC city at its peak would not compare to LV in its infancy. If you want a beach, go to Ocean City or Virginia Beach (if you must stay on the east coast). And even these mega casinos going up in MD, PA etc are just big gambling floors. Vegas is a destination and you don't even need to like gambling to enjoy a visit there.

Atlantic City is a mess. When I was there, to my surprise many parts of the city were rundown and dilapidated. Even the beach was not very nice. I just read yesterday gambling in AC has been declining for years and now Trump is closing in September with over 1000 layoffs coming.
Trump Plaza is closing. This is just the latest sign of Atlantic City’s dramatic decline - The Washington Post

Las Vegas is so much nicer. This is such a lopsided comparison even though AC is number 2.

From a city perspective, agree that AC is dumpy compared to LV. But for a true gambler, not sure since I dont gamble that much and can't tell you what the action is like between the two. But, i do bet on sports, and LV has sports books AC, so LV easily for me.
