Just one outsiders' perspective but for me, swapping Seattle out for SD would definitely drop Group 1 significantly. Nothing against SD though, I just really like Seattle and it adds variety to that group that would be lacking otherwise.

Not that random.
Meh - still seems pretty random to me. Indy? Detroit, St. Louis, Cincy, Cleveland, KC and Columbus are all larger MSAs in the Midwest. DC is a larger MSA Than Boston in the east. Dallas is the largest MSA in the south and isn't even an option. Phoenix and Riverside are larger MSAs in the west than Seattle. Unless, of course, you're trying to influence the outcome:

As I said - pretty random.

Indianapolis isn't my thing, but the Twin Cities seem to do a lot of things right, and Chicago is my favorite BIG city. So those get my vote.
Anything southeast is just too far removed from traits that are appealing. Hot humid weather. City planning that often seems nonexistent, random, and awkward.
West Coast=overpriced and way too many issues for the weather to be able to make up for.
Northeast.... interesting history. Not a part of the world I'd live in, except perhaps northern New England.

Yeah Indianapolis could have been replaced with several cities.
I did not include Detroit since it is not popular on CD... at all.

In spite of my location, I chose the Midwest, especially because of Chicago and Minneapolis. The West Coast trio is intriguing, and the East Coast triumverate is familiar to me and OK, although I don't especially care for Philly ( too many rowhouses). Atlanta, Houston, etc have never appealed for a number of reasons, not the least of which is weather.

I'll say one thing: If you had replaced Indianapolis with Madison, it would have been a no-thinking-required Midwestern win.

I choose group 3 because I could actually live in all three metros and be happy.

Group 1 I could live in all but Seattle.

Group 2 swap Boston for DC and it would be a perfect trio.

Group 4 is the least liked by me and Chicago is the only city I could live in the midwest.

Change up group 3 to Miami/Houston/Dallas and add group 5 to show Atlanta/Charlotte/DC-Baltimore
