Cleveland actually has the tallest building in the Midwest outside Chicago and Indianapolis is 2nd

The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world. It is a symbol of America to foreigners and a symbol of the American West to Americans. It is easily California's most iconic structure. For a natural one, I'd probably pick Half Dome in Yosemite.

I can't really think of a good one for Houston. Maybe the refinery towers or the space shuttle/rockets at NASA.

I want to say that New Jersey's most famous landmarks are probably the NJ turnpike and the AC boardwalk. The only buildings that become instantly recognizable when I think of NJ are some of the cottages in and around Cape May. The high rise casinos in Atlantic City are well known as well, but I think I would be lost if they didn't have their names attached to them.

I agree with you 100%. However, in my mind I feel that the Hollywood sign may have the slight edge.
