I think they mean the hotel itself has 1000 rooms. 1 hotel with 1000 rooms.

No they wanted at least 1 hotel with 1000 rooms. Charlotte has tons of hotels downtown, and they are building more. Hyatt place, Westin, Ritz, Omni, Hilton, Sheraton, Le' Meridian, Embassy, Marriott, Aloft, and Dunhill along with your typical stuff Residence, Hilton Garden, Double tree, Hampton Inn, and whatever else. I am not sure on the count but The Westin is the largest at 700 rooms.

Only Seattle and MAYBE Chicago one day. But that's it as far as "nontraditional" host cities go.

Yeah... Because it's a college stadium built to college standards.

Wouldn't work.

1) I think the Jax debacle is what caused the NFL to be much more strict about # of hotels in proximity to the stadium.
2) As someone else mentioned, there were several thousand extra rooms added from cruise ships. I guess if you count Shad Khan's yacht, thats another couple dozen rooms now

I wish they played Super Bowls in the cold weather cities without a dome but that is likely not to happen again, because the Super Bowl is all about the corporate experience and it costs so much to travel to the game, for hotels and tickets the average wealthy guy and his family wouldn't want to sit out in the cold for hours to watch the Super Bowl. Personally I love watching football games in the cold, I think its great, its a great experience but I am a bit weird.

Let's see...non-traditional...

-I could see London happening in the next decade.
-Orlando if they could upgrade their stadium (which obviously would be very unlikely)
-Jacksonville. The state of affairs from 2005 makes it tougher for Jax, but I think it might be possible to nab something ~2020. Hotel rooms will still be an issue, but the urban core will have tons more organic, density, vibrancy and nightlife. Shad Khan seems to be a well-liked owner in league circles and having the two largest scoreboards in the world should help. (at least currently)
