Definitely not Charlotte. Too far on the eastern part of country. Hot and humid. Not quite as hot as deeper south though. But winters are slightly colder too. Kinda of a bland place to me. It would come down to either Phoenix or Plano. I prefer western culture so probably Phoenix. I'm not too into southern culture and although Texas isn't exactly the south the way Alabama and Mississippi are, it's still along those lines and has that southern accent. I do like no income tax in tx however. As a single you may have a more happening social life in Plano because it's so close to dallas. But I could be wrong.

Plano. I'd live Uptown or Oaklawn in Dallas and commute.

I've lived in Charlotte and am familiar with the city and what it offers. I currently live in Dallas and I'd highly suggest Plano for you. It's a quiet, upscale suburb with it's own vibe. $82k will go far in Texas due to no state income tax. There is an active social scene in DFW overall and even living in Plano, you're still close enough to everything due to the convenient layout of the city. In fact, Plano has a very active social scene on it's own. Google The Shops at Legacy Plano.
