Yeah even without traffic no. Bay Area has terrible, slow left lane drivers that don't understand, or care, of the concept of a "fast lane".

Few cities (besides NYC, LA, and SF) can out do Chicago's arts and theatre scene. Food is so subjective, for Sacramento's size its got a great foodie scene, street and regular food is up there. Slavic, eastern european restaurants, few other cities out do Chicago.

It's an usual comparison, Chicago is an enormous powerhouse of a city with a long history as a big city. Sacramento is a medium size city and it's metro, last census, was barely over 2million.

Sacramento certainly has a more interesting core than Phoenix which is twice the size of Sacramento both city and metro.

Going to SF from SAC, if we leave before 10am on Sat/Sun, 1 hour 10-15 minutes, Coming home after 8 or 9pm, easily done in 1hour, 5-15mins. That would be Bay Bridge(SF side) to Sacramento River Bridge.

Luckily I haven't been stuck in heavy traffic in a long time, worse case I think was just over 2hours for me; because of traffic from Berkeley to Bay Bridge, on I-80.
