Never been to Savannah but Jax is certainly underrated. Nowhere as underrated as some people here make it seem though. I'd prefer Savannah's city by far but it's so terribly small for me. Wouldn't want to live in Jax though, way too suburban and boring compared to cities I like.

Yes, that's the one big problem with Savannah, and I grew up there: the city's small size. Jacksonville is much larger -- and one reason no one can compare and contrast the two fairly. A city with a metro population of 375,000 can't compare with one having 1,375,000. That said, downtown Savannah is far more stunning and interesting than downtown Jacksonville is. Unless someone need lots of "redneck amenities" (skyscrapers, nearby speedway racing, professional sports, strip clubs with free buffalo wings, etc.) -- and some people do -- downtown Savannah is on a higher level.

Savannah has a certain air of stateliness and vibrancy that's replicated by no other city in the country, save Charleston. It makes Jacksonville feel like Oklahoma City by the beach.

I hate to say it, but Jacksonville is one of the most generic and boring cities I have ever been to. Luckily St Augustine and the beaches are nearby.

Savannah on the other hand like is very historic and full of charm.

Downtown - Savannah by far because it's awesome and downtown Jacksonville kind of sucks

Nightlife - Savannah for sure
Schools (K-12) - Jacksonville?
Schools (College) - Jacksonville?
Suburbs - Jacksonville
Shopping - Jacksonville maybe
Dining - Savannah
Beaches - Jacksonville
Crime - Jacksonville, because Savannah has worse crime I think

Cost of Living - Savannah
Sports - Jacksonville obviously
Dating Scene For Singles - tie? personally I picked Atlanta lol

I love both places. Jacksonville won the most categories but Savannah won those that I care about more.
