Miami's also approved to get the 24th MLS franchise too, owned by David Beckham and his investment partners. This is Miami's return to the MLS since the Miami Fusion last played in the league.
Miami and Dallas will be the only markets in the "Southern United States" to have all 5 professional sports leagues. They're also the only cities to have won a title in 3 different major professional sports leagues.
True, True. I didn't realize this. So no other Southern metro has titles in The NFL, NBA, and MLB? Just Dallas and Miami? Good stuff...
Hard to put Kansas City in here anymore after just winning a championship
Yea but how long did it take them? No offense, but based off attendance numbers it seems that royals fans did not realize they still had a team until the league forced the owners to put a decent team together.
Before that the team sucked and the owners were content to make money off revenue sharing. The stadium was mostly empty.
Pretty much bottom feeder attendance in the American League for nearly their entire tenure. They won the World Series last year, but ranked 6/15 in the AL, averaging 33k per game.
The year before that they drew 24k per game.
Can we say 'bandwagon'?
KC is Chiefs/ Jayhawks hoops territory. The Royals are just a side show there.
Hey, LA's 2nd most popular team is a team that hasn't won anything since 1988. I've been alive for 26 years, and haven't seen the Dodgers accomplish anything except absolutely shank every single playoff experience.

Yea but they have been to the play offs a boat load of times. They may not have won the WS, but the dodgers have fielded some really, really good teams in the last 26 years.
SD, Minneapolis, Portland, DC, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Kansas City(unless you count KU in Lawrence), Phoenix, etc.
Who cares about KU? That's a Kansas college team, not a Kansas "City" pro team. Kansas City's MLS, NFL and MLB teams all have championships and multiple playoff appearances.

Kansas City is one of the smallest MLB markets playing in one of the smallest stadiums (37k) and have been terrible for three decades. It's going to take a few years to build the fanbase back up. KC is a baseball town, but it's had one of the worst teams in all of baseball for a very long time. I can't think of many other cities that would still draw what KC drew after 10 years of losing, let alone 30. Look at Philly now, much larger than KC and they were winning just a few years go and selling out. Now look. KC would probably have averaged 40k this year if they had a bigger park. Many games, like weekend games, home opener, big series etc, would have easily sold 45k per game if the stadium were larger, bringing up averages. And the Royals attendance back in the 70's and 80's may have been low compared to average attendance today, but back then 25-30k was very high and KC was in the top of the league so the Royals have not had bad attendance for their entire tenure.
KC has always been a baseball town. It's a football town too, but it's also a baseball town.
