That being said, DC on pretty much everything. But, based upon weather alone, if money wasn't an object, I might just have to go with SD. Because while I picked DC for this, SD is solid enough->very solid on all categories listed, too.

You're pinning 2 of the most bland/generic cities against each, if my arm was in a twist I guess I'd pick DC.

San Diego is one of the most bland/suburban/generic cities in the country. I've noticed that people give it way to much credit.

San Diego's selling point is it's location. Culturally it does have strong Mexican heritage but most of th city is pretty much cookie cutter burbs

Is it wrong to assume that DC is liked more for its career opportunities rather than its features as a city?

Not really.

That's become a central part of DC's culture. It's still interesting to me how I can be out at dinner or at a bar at 9 PM on a Saturday and people are still discussing work, what they do, what organization they work for, etc. I'd assume about 90% of the people who move to DC do so for career-related reasons so it's not wrong to assume that.

I think San Diego clearly wins when it comes to scenery and weather, though.

In general maybe, but while it's a very career oriented area, it offers a ton. Historically, neighborhoods/nightlife, theme parks, power (this one is random but cool when thinking about it), museums/culture, theme parks, location, nature, etc., what exactly doesn't it offer?

quality of life - San Diego
nightlife - San Diego
daytime activities - Washington, by far
culture - Washington
shopping - Washington, though both are lacking imo
dining - Washington
scenery - San Diego, though I personally prefer the green hills around DC
economy - Washington

Washington wins 5. San Diego wins 3. Washington wins this round.
