USA is the world's third largest nation both by population and total land area. Canada is the second largest country in the world by total land area. Both countries share the longest and most peaceful border in the world.

Where would you rather live long term?

PS: This thread is not necessary which country is better; it's basically where you would prefer to live.

I made the move south, as did many friends/classmates. Canada is probably more "likeable" in most ppl's minds, but push come to shove, ppl will go where the money/jobs/economic opportunities are, so USA

I would choose Canada;

* National healthcare
* Bilingual in English/French (Quebec French only)
* Metric system
* Safer / Less crime
* Proximity to the USA
* Great world cities (Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary, Niagara Falls, etc.)
* Great four season climate (Hot and sunny summers where most Canadians live)
* Lower taxes and more affordable than Europe
* Large cities have lower cost of living than most American large cities
* Very low poverty / mostly middle class / High quality of life
* It has taken the best of Europe and America
* Larger houses/cars/food portion, etc. like the USA
* Great education
* Very clean
* Large and diverse in terms of everything
* No strict separation of church and state

Canada for the mere fact that it has national healthcare.

There are more taxes in Canada though.

I think Canada has the higher QOL pound per pound, but the truth is it's pretty good here in the U.S. as well. I think you see big discrepancies when it comes to the lower class, but the middle and upper class in both countries seem to have similar lifestyles/QOL.

I picked the U.S. just because I think it's a far more interesting country, and I have so many different options of places to live within the country.

Canada's the second largest country in the world by total area, but the fourth in total land area. Sort of a weird factoid that doesn't get mentioned very often.

Just the fact that New York City is in the United States makes me choose this country over Canada.

I will say that if I were to live in Canada, then Toronto is the only city I would consider.

I wonder if that's because nearly 9% of Canada is covered by water.
