Texas has great nightlife, but it still lacks in the whole Urban nightlife experience. Most of those areas you've name have decent walkability, but only Deep Ellum and Uptown has vibrancy, even still, those neighborhoods lack in the whole experience, same goes for Houston, and Austin. I think the one glaring problem with Texas nightlife is that it's too inconsistent between areas; it's all sprawled. If you've ever experienced nightlife in an Urban setting, you'd understand...
Very true. In Dallas, I'd like to see the entire Elm/Main/Commerce corridor (Downtown/Deep Ellum/Expo Park) become something special. Ditto for the east-side of I-35 in Austin to connect with Downtown.

Give it time , I feel in maybe 5-10 years and beyond it will be even more lively. Texas cities have been building crap suburban development for over 50 years and the urban development really just kicked off hard like 5-7 years ago. I know what you mean I party mainly in the West coast so I know vibrant nightlife. I agree with the inconsistency of good urban development etc between areas 100%
Does it? Black nightlife in Dallas is nowhere near as well-rounded or as broad as it is in Houston. It's been that way for years.
I never said that dallas has MORE black nightlife than Houston, I said dallas has a lot of nightlife geared towards blacks as well. Houston has a larger black population and the Houston area also have 2 HBCU's so yes Houston has more.

Yeah, in my experience, the difference of nightlife between urban and suburban styled areas is night and day. Urban nightlife is vastly superior.
I've been going to / from Houstin <=> Austin for about 6 months now. Granted Houston is alot easier to enjoy during the holidays when the roads aren't chaos but in general it seemed pretty happening.
