I put it out there to see how people feel about SJ. I wanted to see if people like San Jose or not. I guess not. So Seattle is the place people should visit or move to.

Bottom line, both cities are strong. Seattle just offers more in the categories offered, except for one, that being weather. San Jose has better weather than Seattle. There, I said it. But beyond that, Seattle wins in every other category. I do like San Jose's mid-century suburbs, like Cupertino. Great homes from a different era.

Usually this is where we debate the value of being part of the San Francisco area. If that's included SJ can at least compete.

This.

San Jose has weather that the majority of people (myself not included) would find desirable.

Seattle has amazing summers, but long, dreary, damp, gray, drizzy winters with weeks on end of no sunlight. And I eat that shizz up. Not much severe cold, usually mild enough for an exhilarating run or a nice hike through the rainforests even in January. Not a fan of endless sunshine, I'll take the damp grey drizzle any day in winter. But I'm a minority.

It's funny, those of us who grew up in Seattle didn't know any better. We grew up with clouds and drizzle so we never knew anything else. A true NW native will understand this. It was just...normal.

That being said, when I moved to the Tri-Cities, WA in 1990 I felt much better. I discovered that I did enjoy more sunshine and was perhaps born in the wrong place. But, at the end of the day, due to my birthplace I can accept both!

Weather should never determine how one feels. If it does, then there is probably something else going on.
