NYC and DC vs LA and SF.

Which one is the more powerful duo?
Which duo influences the country and the world more?
Which duo offer more and the best amenities?

No offense to L.A and SF.

But there is NO COMPARISON.

There is only one NYC in the nation. And L.A is not NYC nor never will be. Period.

IMO Philadelphia is better than SF. Philadelphia and SF GDP are NEARLY the same. (Few know this or acknowledge it). ha

NYC - > DC (with Philadelphia).

Nothing compares to the bounty of the NEC in this country.

If you're just going pure power, NYC and DC no question. Influencing the country and world more -- I'd say direct influence NYC/DC, indirect influence is a close toss-up due to SF's tech scene, and LA's culture/film even though NY has a huge arts/creative scene as well. As for amenities, I'm going west coast due to that amenity called weather.

As to the actual thread, New York and Washington are both more powerful and more globally influential than Los Angeles and San Francisco...

More nationally influential is a real debate, because LA and SF have a sphere of influence that stretches east to Texas, damn near to the Mississippi. New York's influence is largely felt along the East Coast but is greatly diminished once you leave the coastal states, and start trekking westward. DC has the smallest individual sphere of any of these cities...

Also, I think it's debatable as to which duo offers the best amenities. So, in the latter two categories, extraordinarily debatable and anyone who denies that is obviously not being truthful, or is showing their bias and/or just not knowledgeable of California. But DC/NY are clearly more powerful and more globally influential than LA/SF...

This is all debatable and requires nuanced thought...

Likewise some people also are of the opinion that Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy are real.

Agreed. Although I do love LA and think it's beautiful, I cant stand the attitude and overall atmosphere of SF. Plus NYC/DC have many other metros in between (Baltimore, Philly, etc.) meanwhile the same cant be said about LA/SF.

No comparison. Close thread.

I can define 'power' as how much could said geography affect my life. In that sense, all 4 are quite potent in 2018.

Again, all 4 are major global influencers.

Which duo offer more and the best amenities?
NY/DC have better museums
LA/SF have better recreation

Again tho, any of these have extremely desirable cultural amenities.
