The triangle doesn’t have all of the things that big cities have. It doesn’t have ballet, top museums, or theater. And what it does have isn’t that great.

I agree that it’s flourishing and will continue to do so regardless of whether or not they attract Apple. But I don’t think that people move there for access to big city amenities unless they’re from Mayberry.

It doesn't have ballet? uh...yes it does. It doesn't have theater? uh....yes it does. "Top" museums? Well, that's subjective, so I am not going to get into a pissing match about that one, but the Triangle has plenty of really nice museums.

The Triangle also has plenty of museums. A museum doesn't have to be a "top" museum, however defined, so be a great museum. As the home of the state's capital city and great universities, there's certainly no shortage of really good museums in the Triangle.

So your going to try to equate the amenities around Duke and UNC and NC State to a tier 1 American metropolis?

That may not dissuade Apple from choosing Raleigh, but come on.

Would not be all that bad an idea for Apple actually. Could kill two birds with two stones figuratively speaking.

You know better. Somebody said the Triangle didn't have ballet, theater, etc AT ALL and I was merely correcting him (and I also included city-based ballet and theater companies unaffiliated with area universities). It's one thing to say that the Triangle doesn't have amenities on the level of a top 5 metro but that's not what was being argued; he was essentially implying that the Triangle is Mayberry with no cultural amenities of note.

I don't know if people are truly that ignorant about the Triangle or what but this is getting ridiculous.

My guess is that they're truly ignorant to what the Triangle does offer for a medium sized metro of 2 million people. The Durham performing arts center (DPAC) is consistently voted as one of the best in the country https://www.dpacnc.com/news/detail/2...s-top-theaters. The Duke Energy Center is also an incredible facility Remarkable Performances. Remarkable Venues. - Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

The Triangle has many comedy clubs and nightlife has gotten so much better within even the past 5-10 years. The museums here are top notch and better than any city I know of within comparable size/stature . I could go on an on, but Raleigh does not lack for amenities unless one is claiming it's a top 5-10 metro, which no one is.

Right, both metros are on the same level. People just do not want to see NC successful.

Now you're going to the opposite extreme. NoVA is nearly twice as large as the Triangle so no they aren't "on the same level." The Triangle isn't Mayberry but it's also not part of a top 10 metro area either.

Lord this is getting exhausting...
