That is so sad. I know there is a lot of poverty there but why would someone kill a person just because they are poor? That doesn't make any sense. A lot of the people they kill are also poor or uneducated as well so how does killing someone help anything?
Cops going light on police work since Freddie Gray...apparently its hard to do police work when citizens say no to police brutality...probably the same thing at play in St Louis (higher murder rate than Bmore) since Michael Brown in neighboring Ferguson

I know that Bmore police effectively stopped policing in certain areas right after the Freddie Gray incident...I don't know if thats still the case but even if not, it can be hard to put the genie back in the bottle

St. Paul had one last night. The 8th homicide of the month in St. Paul..
St.Paul has had 22 this year now but the 8 this month are the most I've ever seen in that city in a month. Minneapolis also had a murder last night and im not sure how many that city has had this year.

I’m a bit surprised by the Twin Cities I’ve always thought those cities were exceptionally safe like Seattle.

Recently it has been, but back in the 1990's Minneapolis used to be nicknamed "Murderapolis".

Minneapolis had 99 in 1995 and 88 in 1996. And averaged 60 through the 1990s.

Thanks, murksiderock, for the updated list! You’re awesome!

Oh, and Pittsburgh is actually now at 30, but we remain unchanged in the rankings.

Pittsburgh: 30 (9.97/100,000)

We’re on track for our lowest rate in many years. Our worst nabes continue to empty out, which is helping.
