Urban Area is NOT equal to Metropolitan Statistical Area nor is it equal to CSA. I don't know where people are getting these ideas. Also, this is obviously their own Urban Area calculations and the US Census does provide their own Urban Area calculations

Well, for starters, 9.2 million is not Chicago’s UA population. Chicago’s UA population is more like 8.6 million.
All of the numbers are off compared to what the Census counts. For example, NYC's in this source is listed at 21 million but the US Census has it as just under 19 million - difference of over 2 million people. La's in the original source is 15.4 million - the US Census has it at 12.5 million - off by almost 3 million people.

According to Wiki 2017 estimates
LA County: 10,163,507
Orange County: 3,190,400
Ventura County: 854,223
Riverside County: 2,423,266
San Bernardino County: 2,140,096 (2016)
Total: 18,771,492
This is the true Greater LA region. I highly disagree with any statistic that doesn't put these 5 counties together, and I wouldn't even be entirely opposed to adding in Santa Barbara County. If its 446,170 people are added, that's a total of 19,217,662 and I don't think that's too far of a stretch.
The NJ counties of Bergen, Middlesex, Essex, Hudson, Monmouth, Union, Passaic, Morris, Mercer, Somerset, Sussex, Hunterdon, Warren make 6,532,699.
NYC plus the NY counties of Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Orange, Rockland, Putnam, Ulster, Dutchess, Sullivan and Columbia of make 13,496,252.
The CT counties of Fairfield, New Haven, and Litchfield make 1,992,533.
The PA counties of Monroe, Pike, Carbon, Lehigh, and Northampton make 957,489.
That makes the NYC Metro 22,978,973.
So actually if the regions are expanded to their absolute fringes, the populations become larger.
DE Counties (Kent, New Castle): 728,181
MD Counties (Cecil): 102,746
NJ Counties (Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Salem): 1,916,466
PA Counties (Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia): 4,508,356
That gives Philadelphia/Delaware Valley 7,255,749. So again, higher. I know it's not the same as urban area to say by county. But this shows how the discrepancy is created when we look at county-wide stats instead of going into minute details of urban areas.
It's not accurate: SJ urban pop. is 1.938,000 for 2017. 1,782,000 was in 2010.
