The Buffalo region isn't too bad, 2 great lakes, Niagara Falls and the river gorge, Appalachian foothills, massive gorges like Letchworth and Zoar Valley, the finger lakes. But the immediate city setting isn't too spectacular. The lakefront is nice, but otherwise the city and immediate suburbs are flat.
Oh, for sure. I (living in the Buffalo area) take plenty of enjoyable drives to nice scenic areas that are relatively close, but in terms of how Buffalo would stack up against some of the other cities on the list here, I don't think Buffalo really deserves a vote when compared to the places that are (rightly) faring best in this poll
I think there are four contenders: Honolulu, Anchorage, Seattle, and San Francisco. For cities not touching the Pacific Ocean, Salt Lake City might have my vote.
Don't know why multiple cities within the same metro areas were included makes for a lot of redundant choices. I voted for San Diego but Seattle works as well.
Some of the places on your list certainly aren't "large cities". Chula Vista CA?? Aurora CO?? Bakersfield CA??
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Los Angeles? Jersey City? Really??
LA has a lot of natural beauty. The Hollywood Hills run down the center of the city. The San Gabriel Mountains to the east, tower over the city, and you have the Pacific Ocean to the west.
I saw someone post Rio as most naturally beautiful outside the U.S. I would rate Vancouver BC in that league.
