For the West Coast I’m specifically focusing on California and for the East Coast I’m mostly focusing on the NY area of Northern NJ, NYC, Westchester, Fairfield/Greenwhich CT, and Long Island (Hamptons included).
Which side offers better prices for Mansions with San Fran, LA, NYC pretty much being world class cities close to proximity?
I would say the East Coast gives you more for the money.
Certain enclaves like Greenwich are very expensive, but there are a lot of nice areas in North Jersey, Southwestern CT, and Westchester area that have a great variety of large houses at better rates than comparable suburbs outside of LA and especially San Fran.
I also think homes on the East Coast are better looking (my opinion).
East Coast, without a doubt. The East Coast south of DC, you get an enormous amount of home/mansion for the money. Really can't find that kind of value anywhere along the West Coast anymore. Even north of DC, I think the homes/mansions generally look nicer than along the West Coast, IMO.

East coast give you classic traditional mansions; Colonial, Shingle Style, European Eclectic while the West coast shines with way more unabashedly contemporary aesthetic as well as a refined Mediterranean/Spanish style and aren’t afraid of shaking things up in terms of design. While I like a classic traditional mansion most are a bit staid and too formal to my eyes, I prefer the warmer rambling Mediterranean/Spanish and the bolder contemporary style but it’s gonna cost ya on the Pacific coast.
