Not sure if you can claim this as the promised land ahead of DC so easily. Look at the population numbers to the right as opposed to percentages. DC has 700,000 more Black households in its metro making a median income of 7k more than SF. That holds a LOT of weight. DC (larger metro) also has more total Whites by number making a household income comparable to the Whites in SF metro. SF leads with Asians, but not as sizeable a gap there is with Blacks in DC compared to SF. Hispanics aren't too far off in numbers and rank 1 and 2. I don't see that as a slam dunk to make it the "Promised Land".
This is the United States, most people with ambition can succeed if they set goals and work hard-anywhere in this country.
But so many of those ambitious folks appear to have found their way to the Bay Area.

75,867 Detroit 38.1%
But again, without factoring in COL it’s not a really good measure.
Actually after reading this below I dont really care about the COL argument anymore.

Here is one table which is the percentage of people by MSA who spend 35% or more of their income on rent. It's not counting mortgages which is a different table that I can do at another time. This is table B25070 - the lower the percentage, the better. These are just the ones I looked at for now and it's calculated only from computed households - non computed are excluded.

Lol per usual you conveniently use CSA metric when it comes to percentage knowing that it boosts SF and decreases DC, but ok.

^^^ Look at the Asian Males gap when going from CSA to MSA it drops from $10,000 difference to $4,000. The Black male earnings difference is $2,300 more in SF MSA but DC has 800,000 more Black households. Ok slickster lol.

Yawns. Just so we're clear, you said: Lol per usual you conveniently use CSA metric when it comes to percentage knowing that it boosts SF and decreases DC, but ok.
And now you know this is not true. SF tops DC in all of those measure at MSA level. You can go full Trump all you like to deflect and downplay but the numbers are the numbers.
A more gracious reply would have been: I stand corrected. FYI.
Anything else you need clarification with, let me know.

You know the old saying about statistics: “There are three types of lies -- lies, damn lies, and statistics.”
After a while, the only reason why we're all debating still is because we're bored. It changes nothing in real life. Hopefully we'll all get a new prism through how we look at things, but lets be real...we won't
