2006 was even worse than 07 in Philly with 406. Btw I wonder what the real homicide capitals are, like the cities with over 100 per 100k. I know Chester PA will most likely end the year with above that considering it's over 50 now.

I know also though, that if a town of 1000 people has 1 murder, that puts it at 100/100k so you have to take that into consideration. I realized if Monowi, Nebraska had a murder, it would have a murder rate of 100,000/100,000 residents and instantly become the murder capital of the world lol.

Its also interesting to see on a map that most homicides in Philadelphia and Chicago are in certain sections of the city, and there could be any number of reasons for the increase... lack of policing, turf wars, people in poverty getting pushed closer together as other part of the city improve, etc.

They already live a self destructive lifestyle, a pandemic is not a threat to them. Also here in Houston a lot of the crime here has been drug related. The lockdown has slowed the distribution of drugs which of course increases crime.

I remember 2 or 3 years ago hearing on the radio about Boston's 15th homicide of the year. So I guess May is usually the month when it hits that number.

I like using GoogleMaps to explore metro areas. Is it safe to say areas north and south of Boston visually leave a lot to be desired?

Boston does a better job than most at being clean and looking nice, at least in the downtown and residential areas around there. But the places I've scoped out south and north don't look that great.

They’re not meant to lol great, they mostly house lower-middle to poor people. That being said- They look MUCH better than 15+ years ago. Or even worse 30+ years ago. Back then there were many vacant and burnt out buildings throughout Boston. The populace and loo of Boston in the inner city areas bears little resemblance to Beacon Hill or Back Bay.

FWIW while I understand this isn't everyone's cup of tea. I think overall its a cohesive look that is full of character and color. I like it.

idk this year and last year have been slow on homicides compared to 2/3 years ago. Last year we had 39 homicides our lowest since 2002. 2018 there were 57 homicides.
