Yeah but there is a difference in "leading" than just pure dominance
As far as architecture goes - SOM and Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill are both based in Chicago amongst some others. In terms of law you could probably award it to one of many cities - Chicago, NYC, DC, and Boston are the tops IMO in terms of law. I wouldn't even pick a single one for this TBH
Education? DC has Howard University which is right up there with Morehouse and Spellman and I believe has just as many highly influenced alumni if not more. Howard University ripples through the Black Community throughout this nation just as much as Morehouse and Spellman. I know Atlanta also has Clark Atlanta and all but they aren't on the level of the three I named in influence and impact throughout the nation.
I think you overrate how much the rest of the world would tie Black America to Atlanta. I don't think they would tie it to any city tbh. But if you're talking about consciousness of Black America, NYC is right up there with Atlanta. Historically and currently. But you can't discount history. If you're a center then the history has to be taken into account here as that helps create your culture.
Yeh but the AUC is the largest consortium of black colleges in North America.
Way back from the Spike Lee movie School Daze to Drum Line, Atlanta HBCU are in front.
Dont forget the International Theological Center
The ITC is responsible for conferring more theological degrees than any other single place world wide.
Georgia Tech confers more black engineers than any other school in the US.
Spike Lee went to Morehouse as did Martin Luther King Jr.
Morehouse has has a connection with Goldman Sachs since its early years.
''We know Andy Young as a leader of black people in America, a civil rights leader and an associate of Martin Luther King,'' Mr. Ganga added. ''When he visited my country to push for Atlanta, he was cheered by crowds like some sort of a chief. He is a hero in my country.''
Quote:
But a surprising and crucial factor also appeared to be the work of Andrew Young, the former Mayor of Atlanta, who had lobbied hard among African, Middle Eastern and Asian countries based on his contacts as a former chief delegate to the United Nations in the Carter Administration.
Till this day African countries have had strong ties to Atlanta and why its one of the top cities for African immigrants. Especially by percentage.
Atlanta has more than double the number of blacks than NYC has by percentage of population. No other city in America is close .32%
DC is next but considerably less(25%)next,then its Philly(20%).
Im not discounting history but please tell me what other city attracts more blacks than any other city? History isnt the reason Atlanta is more popular than New Orleans,DC,Philadelphia,or NYC.
There are SO MANY articles, video ,essays on why Atlanta is a black cultural capitol.
Just Google .BLACK MECCA then see how many articles on Atlanta come up.No other city even comes close.
Here is a video explaining and their are MANY more!
You dont have to agree with me but I know what I experience all the time with my meeting people from Africa and the Caribbean and its no reason to argue as you cant change my mind and I not yours
I think Detroit has A Strong Case perhaps top 3, When your City is Synonymous with something you pretty much run that Industry. It's just amazing how Faithful the Auto Industry has stayed to Detroit despite the City's up and Downs. I Would have thought GM and Ford would have moved to Atlanta or Chicago or California by now, But Nope. Still Loyal to Detroit. That's says alot to me. Detroit is truly a Center
Well the explanation is right there in your statement so I'm not surprised.
I see that you're one of those people who believes that "black" is a race. Alright, champ, elucidate me. What is Black culture? How does this culture ensure the prosperity of so called Black people, how does it bond so called Black people, and how does it ensure the survival of so called Black people?
You dont have to agree with me but I know what I experience all the time with my meeting people from Africa and the Caribbean and its no reason to argue as you cant change my mind and I not yours
Well I had a long post to this but since you said I can't change your mind and you can't change mine. We will have to agree to disagree.
