But if you never test for it, that means those places never had it at all

That's why people are flocking to visit Somalia, Papua New Guinea, and Venezuela.

I also don't think the kind of healthcare system matters much in terms of how many people will actually contract the virus.
Agree with the former. We are severely under-testing. People with minor symptoms are being ignored and are the most likely carriers of the virus. But they aren't being tested because they don't need immediate medical care.

Disagree with the latter. Many Americans will avoid getting medical care out of fear of co-pays and massive medical debt. The uninsured will avoid medical care entirely. Under-insured will likely wait until it's too late to get treatment, yet they've been spreading the virus for weeks. Even those with good health insurance could be afraid to go because they worry about medical bills piling up.

Basically things are going to plan here in the US by the elites who want most of us to die anyhow. Especially the poor and working class. But hey, less taxes for them to pay.

Yeah. It'll be over 1,000 confirmed cases by the end of Thursday at the latest.

The United States shares much more in common with Italy and Iran than it does with Singapore or Hong Kong with regard to COVID-19. I know that people don't want to hear it because a lot of aspects of their personal lives have already been disrupted but the United States wasn't ready for a pandemic and this was basically thrust onto the world randomly out-of-the-blue when people least expected it. Not much can be done but different countries handle this in different ways. Some more effective than others, some less effective than others. The U.S. is where Italy and Iran were towards the beginning of February. It's going to probably peak sometime in May in the United States and when it becomes warmer, it'll slow the spread down a bit.

Yeah, West Virginia is the lone wolf among the 50 states. It's the last one remaining without a confirmed case. I expect that to change by the end of next weekend but really who knows.

Where I live, it's stabilized quite a good deal and the number of cases have stopped ballooning the last several days and things appear to be slowly improving rather than worsening. I wonder why Washington is so heavily impacted though, is it because Seattle is a gateway to Asia maybe

With respect to the bolded, it appears we are actually much closer. If we continue to follow the curve, we are about ten days behind Italy.

With respect to the thread, the safest place will be in your home or in the great, uncrowded outdoors — if you aren’t showing symptoms. The virus will not otherwise discriminate. Either you’re exposing yourself to risky activity or you’re not. Some states are further along in this pandemic than others, but all will be effected. It’s hard to imagine avoiding restaurants, bars, theaters, institutions for months to come, but that is what will benefit society.
