Spokane is not in a progressive area - Trump beat Hillary by nearly 10 percentage points in Spokane County in 2016. And the closest metro areas in Eastern and Central Washington are all generally more conservative than Spokane. To the immediate East is Northern Idaho. Seattle is over 4 hours away. It’s not a progressive area by any standard.
Now, perhaps it’s more “progressive” than Shreveport because I know Louisiana is very conservative. But let’s be clear - people don’t move to Spokane because it’s progressive.

It looks like both metro areas voted for Trump over Clinton by a similar margin, but the key difference is that Spokane had close to four times the share of third party voters compared to Shreveport. Given the influx of transplants from metro Seattle and California in Spokane, I doubt the area is trending more conservative over time.
Shreveport (4 parishes/counties) - 55.6% Trump/41.4% Clinton/3.0% other
Spokane (3 counties) - 49.9% Trump/38.1 Clinton/12.0% other
I just remember Shreveport, along with neighboring Bon Temps, having issues with vampires, werewolves, and shifters about 6-12 years ago? Not sure if things have gotten better?
