Yeah, it is really hard for me to fathom how small cities are in Montana. So incredibly spaced apart too since the state is the size of Germany in land area with 1/80 the population. The city I currently live in I consider pretty small and isolated, but by comparison it still has 80k more people in the metro area than Billings and has a larger urbanized population as well. Only a couple hours away from Richmond and a few hours from DC or Charlotte, whereas Billings is an incredible 8 hours from Denver...

I went with Missoula because one of my best friends brother lives there and raves about it. He's a big time cyclists like me and commutes by bike. From what I have heard, it is one of the best cities in that part of the US for biking and has a fantastic brewery scene, both of which really appeal to me.

For some reason I almost never hear too much about Billings or Helena among my circle, but hear about Missoula as well as places like Big Sky and Glacier NP a lot.

Never been to Montana, but definitely do intend to visit someday.

Bozeman because it's the only city in Montana that I've been to.

Interestingly the Montana State Football Team was on my flight from Sacramento to Bozeman and then I saw them again a few days later on my way back to LA, although they were on a different flight. I had never heard of Montana State before then.
