I feel like Helena is gonna have outsize relevance here because Montana cities so rarely come up in conversation, so people will just default to the capital they had to memorize in school

My thoughts as well. Billings is the largest city but it doesn't dominate in any real way. There are no big cities and all of its cities are pretty well spaced out in a very large land area. I picked Missoula since it's the only Montana city I've been to and it's a fairly known college town in a nice mountain setting.

Bingo - which is why I answered Helena. Though after a second or two, Bozeman and Billings were the other two that came to mind.
