Similar to the thread about Michigan without Detroit. Savannah is like Charleston's twin, and without Atlanta the rest of Georgia is more like South Carolina.

Pretty sure Savannah would run away with this. It has a much profile than the others.

Ironically for me the first city I think of after Atlanta is Macon. Mainly due to me being an I-75 commuter to Florida vs. I-95.

Savannah for me but oddly Savannah doesn’t really feel like the rest of Georgia, it feels like a city that should be on the Gulf Coast somewhere.

Augusta due to the Masters but that's Augusta National, not a city. I can't name a street in Savannah but I know Amen Corner even though I've never been anywhere near Augusta National. I might be able to dredge up Chippewah Square from Forest Gump.

Athens didn't make the list? That's the town I first thought of. I momentarily forgot about Savannah, which is probably the right answer.

Easily Savannah.

Nice city, right on 95 and proximity to beaches and Hilton Head.

The Masters is just about the only thing Augusta has going for it aside from it's proximity to Fort Gordon. It's a pretty typical small Georgia town most of the rest of the year, which is odd with how much prominence the Masters have.

The jobs/industry in Augusta pull two different South Carolina counties into the metro. The jobs in Savannah can’t pull Beaufort county into its metro or even CSA.

There’s other national events here similar to the ESI Ironman. There’s other large job creators besides Fort Gordon including the Medical District. Savannah River Site. Plant Vogtle.

Augusta is only city in Georgia besides metro Atlanta with Sprouts. Top Golf. Cabelas. Costco. Apple.

Savannah has more tourism and can’t attract those. Columbus has a much bigger army base and can’t attract those. Dave & Busters is also opening their first location outside metro Atlanta in Augusta.
