HeyJackass includes self-defense, police shootings, and other non-traditional homicides. Tribune is reporting 709 as of today.

Don't worry, the terrorists will hit 750 in a few weeks.

Philly, as of 11/16, has 486 homicides.

2020 total was 499 and the record is 1990 with 500 homicides. Obviously Philly will significantly blow past that 500 record in 2021.

Three University of Chicago students have been murdered this year. Hyde Park is surrounded by war zones, and there's been no shortage of violence brought to you by its visiting neighbors, but three murdered students is absolutely shocking at one of the world's best universities. The criminals and their enablers are having quite the successful year there.

Dallas
HOMICIDE - 228 (2020 = 237)
MURDER & NONNEGLIGENT MANSLAUGHTER - 193 (2020 = 223)
NEGLIGENT MANSLAUGHTER - 21 (2020 = 4)
JUSTIFIABLE HOMICIDE - 14 (2020 = 10)

Recent
11-12-2021 16:37 - 1715 Barnes Bridge Rd - B/M, 22 - Shot during an attempted gun sale. Suspect was also shot and claimed self defense but chased after the complainant and shot him, also continued to shot him while comp was on the ground.
11-13-2021 16:43 - 6375 E Northwest Hwy - L/F - Shot during a disturbance outside of a store.
11-13-2021 19:51 - 2400 E R L Thornton Fwy - L/M, 49 - Car to car shooting while driving on freeway entrance ramp.
11-14-2021 00:56 - 2121 52nd St - Showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound, died in surgery.
11-16-2021 18:31 - 4106 Metropolitan Ave - B/M - Shot outside of the listed location.
11-16-2021 18:52 - 8282 Park Ln - 60 Male - Was loading items into his vehicle when he was shot during a robbery.
11-16-2021 20:48 - 7200 Forest Pkwy - 46 Male - Was found shot to death inside of an SUV that wrecked out in a creek.

Shootings are up significantly, ~1068 shooting victims, but a large number of shootings are being hidden by coding them as "injured person". Which is keeping the overall stats down, same thing is being done with the number of murders, by counting them as "NEGLIGENT MANSLAUGHTER" which are not included in the murder total.

You're both not accounting for geographic size which throws these types of comparisons way off. Chicago is 3x the geographic size of Baltimore (225 vs. 81 sq/mi). NYC is 4x the physical size.

You can't just multiple "x" cities population and call it a day. You have to take into account geographic size of the cities in question when directly comparing them at parity.

Baltimore has ~1.2 million people and something like 330-340 murders in the same geographic area as Chicago. If it was the "size of Chicago" it would have virtually identical homicide metrics population/land adjusted.

Same would apply to cities like Philly, DC, Memphis, Cleveland, St. Louis or Oakland.

27 for the metroplex so far this month and 448 this year not including Negligent manslaughters. There's been a lot of Negligent / nonnegligent manslaughters across the D/FW this year involving vehicles.
