If my calculations are correct, Boston has had 40 murders this year.

Wait, what. Denver is at 100? Pueblo is at 29???

To me, those are more shocking than even Chicago at 1,000 (which it will be below that).

That would put Pueblo around 27/100k, which has to be up there for west of the Plains metros. Denver around 7/8 per 100k also seems extremely high for an area people seem to be flocking to.

I really think the pandemic and the decrease of incidental social contact (eg with people who aren’t your friends and family) have really messed up society. It’s like people who aren’t in your order circle are less real now. People are driving like maniacs, being completely deranged in stores/cafes, acting up on airplanes etc. and of course murders are way up. Just a total disregard for others

Toronto is at 84 homicides. Not sure about suburban homicides but I wouldn’t be surprised if Toronto’s metro rate is higher than Boston’s metro rate this year.

Yep. Got into two shouting matches on the phone at work today. The "non-essentials" are totally losing their minds due to the pandemic. They better get therapy or meds fast because this pandemic isn't going to be over for a very long time yet, either.

Chicago- 795 (as in CPD reported and most recent per sun-times. However, heyjackass has the total homicides at 841.)

30 year old man shot in Little Village on the west side.

It's totally unscientific but there does at first glance seem to have been an uptick in shootings here since harsher lockdown measures have come back.
