In terms of suburbs that are relatively affordable, has some walkability, access to public transportation and has good schools that are pretty diverse, I'm wondering if the Eggertsville(cdp) in the town of Amherst next to Buffalo may be the best fit in the region.

It is in the Amherst Central SD, which is highly regarded: https://data.nysed.gov/profile.php?instid=800000053090

https://data.nysed.gov/gradrate.php?...d=800000053090

Even more so at this elementary school: https://data.nysed.gov/profile.php?instid=800000053083

71.2% of its black households make at least $60,000: https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...5Y2020.B19001B
Its black median household income is $80,132: https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...ST5Y2020.S1903

Parts of the cdp are within walking distance of a Metro Rail stop: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Univer...alo_Metro_Rail)
https://metro.nfta.com/schedules/route/145
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Prin...42.9544618!3e2 (That area of the cdp is zoned for Windermere Elementary and could allow for people that work Downtown or along the route to take rail)

It is also not too far from black owned businesses, institutions, events, etc. on Main Street, Hertel Avenue(North Buffalo), Downtown, Bailey Avenue, as well as other parts of the East Side of Buffalo(Jefferson, Fillmore, Hamlin Park, etc).

Housing is relatively affordable compared to the Bos-Wash corridor areas: https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...le_NY?view=map

University at Buffalo, Daemen College and even Canisius College are close by for events as well(sports, lectures, camps, etc.

Let alone access to places like Niagara Falls, Darien Lake(a Six Flags amusement park), Toronto(2 hour drive), Rochester(an hour away), etc.

Location: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Eg...!4d-78.8039226
Demographics: https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...NNIALPL2020.P1
More info: https://data.census.gov/cedsci/profi...00000US3623701

I'm wondering if there are other places that bring or offer a similar combination of these things in the region?

Here is some information from $75k and up at the metro level for the areas in the initial list for households and families. Keep cost of living and perhaps some other factors in mind.

Boston: 40.3% / 47.2%

Harrisburg: 22.5% / 28.2%

Hartford: 34.7% / 44.8%

NYC: 38.3% / 46.9%

Philadelphia: 29.1% / 37.4%

Providence: 32.9% / 41.6%

Sources: https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...5Y2020.B19001B

https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...5Y2020.B19101B

As for other areas in the region, East Stroudsburg PA and Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown NY, both of which have black metro population percentages around the national figure(give or take), have higher household figures at 49.4% and 41.6% respectively: https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...5Y2020.B19001B

with family figures at 55.5% and 51.7%: https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...5Y2020.B19101B

As far as I know, these areas are #1 and #2 in the region in this category and both are areas where you could likely go into the $60-74,999 range as well. So, the percentages are likely higher in terms of the black middle class in those areas.

Some historical demographic information about both of these smaller metro areas: https://s4.ad.brown.edu/projects/div...?metroid=20700

That's every selective school in the country including UPenn and Drexel- I know because I've visted both schools more than once. It wa also the case at Trinity and Anywhere (Stanford, Duke) etc etc.

And Harvard has a pretty high black enrollment. Its really BU thats the worse here.

Most Black sin MA go to state schools- where theyre overrepresented in comparison to their share of the population.

Philadelphia definitely has plenty of immigrant services bro- and probably more immigrants than Boston in raw number. https://www.google.com/search?q=hait...hrome&ie=UTF-8

They actually have a Welcoming Haitian Families page on their city website. https://www.phila.gov/2021-10-15-wel...tian-families/

you're venturing into a mountain out of a mole hill territory. Philadelphia isnt Omaha.

Most American Harvardians, Black, white, Asian, Hispanic, Native American, or what-have-you, come from somewhere outside Massachusetts, and that's been the case since at least the end of World War II if not earlier.

I sure did. I drove 1300 miles to get there freshman year with a fellow (white) Kansas Citian who was also headed there.

Right this is the case with every selective school in MA and really in the country, unless it’s a state school like UM or Cal. Harvard is a global community.

Speaking of colleges/universities, I know that CUNY's Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn is predominantly black: https://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator...190646#enrolmt
https://www.cuny.edu/schools/medgar-evers-college/
https://www.google.com/maps/@40.6666...7i16384!8i8192

Are there any other 4 year schools that are or come close/pluralistically more so?
