Yes they do. I’m very familiar with Baldwin. I live in Nassau County. If OP can afford it that is where they should go. The area is wonderful. The parents are super involved with the school. Everyone cares about the community & the music program is like nationally recognized.

It is also known across the state for its good Basketball programs as well. I believe it’s black median household income is the highest for any group in the school district and it is a largely middle class SD. In fact, a former black Syracuse University Architecture professor that I know lives in the district and his son who just graduated is going to Cornell(this professor is originally from Buffalo and lived in the 13224 zip code’s Salt Springs neighborhood during his time at Syracuse). Some historical income data: http://www.usa.com/school-district-3...races-data.htm
Isn’t the Stearns Park area of (NW) Freeport in the Baldwin SD? I ask, because had a conversation a few years ago with a college student that went to Baldwin, but lived in Freeport. A nice bonus for Freeport is that it has low electric utility rates due to having its own municipal electric company affiliated with NYPA.

Re: Stearns Park, not sure but it might be. This family def wants to be in Baldwin over Freeport tho if they can afford it. Unfortunately many of the minority areas on LI are also synonymous with being low income. Baldwin is still high income with a large % of blacks.
Recently a now NASA astronaut graduated from Baldwin High School

Well, the reason I mentioned that area of Freeport is due to a good portion of NW Freeport is in the Baldwin SD and it is area of Freeport with predominantly black middle class areas.
This area includes Frederick Douglass Sqaure and many housing projects. it also contains some famous local black establishments. Overall a dope Zip code for the urban-inclined. Both of our leading African American mayoral Hopefuls were initially raised here before pushed into the heart of Roxbury and Mattapan due to gentrification.
Overall it's a mix of Somalis, longstanding African American families/professionals, Puerto Ricans, low-income Asians (more so 10+ years ago), Asians and White College students. One of the most diverse and interesting urban neighborhoods on the east coast.
Roxbury Crossing is a slight misnomer as it encompasses Lower Roxbury and most of Mission Hill, two different neighborhoods (they were considered one until the late 1990s- no longer). One could also say its part of the South End. Another neighborhood

One of my childhood friends is moving to Boston this weekend from DC Ward 7 for work. He will be there for 3-months. He hasn’t decided where he will live yet, but he wants to be in the city. I’m going to recommend some of these neighborhoods. What would you say is the best place to live in Boston coming from DC and living in Ward 7? He currently lives in a rowhouse in Parkside.

What's his budget? How black does he want it?
This area is significantly more expensive and urban than Parkside and a lot less black. Personally Id much rather be here than Parkside though.
To recreate Parkside he may want to look at 02119 not 02120.
