It could happen. The incoming Boston City Council and mayor are that far left. At least one other MA city is doing it, probably more soon.

Boston was supposed to host the 2020 NAACP convention but COVID.. so now it’s 2023

Rochester was considering a plan similar to Evanston’s, but using a portion of cannabis sales to fund it. However, the mayor just finished her term a couple days ago.

An example from Boston's Readville/Hyde Park neighborhoods: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...02-suffolk-ma/
A few streetviews: https://www.google.com/maps/@42.2421...2!9m2!1b1!2i37

It is 41.6% black alone(48.2% inc. in combo): https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...00000US2507000

So, these are a couple more examples of how it may be important to look at more specific numbers.

I'll try to do something similar for the other cities on the list later.

On a side note, when looking at the national figures, Tract 61.3 in Syracuse's South Valley neighborhood still has a higher black MHHI than the national black figure of $43,862 and a slightly lower black poverty rate than the national black rate of 21.2%. So, those national figures can help put some of the information into proper perspective. https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...ST1Y2019.S1903

Here is a census tract in Newark’s Lower Vailsburg neighborhood: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...t-23-essex-nj/

https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...ST5Y2019.S1903

A census tract in the Hackensack River Waterfront/Droyer’s Point area of Jersey City: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...-54-hudson-nj/

Its black poverty rate is/was 15.4% and it’s black MHHI is/was $59,244: https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...ST5Y2019.S1701

https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...ST5Y2019.S1903

It is 31.2% black alone(34.4% inc. in combo): https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table...NNIALPL2020.P1

Again, these are some of the middle tracts in these cities with some of the highest black percentages and where the black population is relatively/generally middle class. I’ll do the other 2 on the initial list later, with possibly some other cities in the region in the future.
