50/50. Some say yes, some say no depending on how you divide South/North. Lets not go there, debate has been done multiple times on different threads and I just summarized it in a cliff notes version for you.

Delaware- as I've seen it- is more south than north. But really it's just-there...

People from North Jersey call South Jersey “Alabama†lol.

The furthest point south in Jersey (Cape May) shares a latitude with like Washington DC and is south of some points of Virginia...

but it also goes north of New Haven Connecticut and southern Martha's Vineyard/ all of Nantucket, Massachusetts...(Montague, NJ)

The "east coast" is more E-W than it is N-S..

Can't say I'm surprised. And I'm honestly not picking on anyone for having a different point-of-view.

But I have come across enough people from New England (in the real world) to make such statements that it gives me cause to call it out.

All I can say is that the Northeast is already the smallest geographically defined region in the US, by far. Eliminating widely-accepted parts of Pennsylvania or even New Jersey would make it absurdly paltry as a grouping of states in comparison to other regions.

All major geographic regions of the US have a healthy amount of cultural variation; why would or should the Northeast be some sort of "purist" or "homogenous" exception?

You'd have to ask people from the Northeast that. It see all the time how Posters from Philly state their similarities to NYC and Boston. I can post quotes from days on the matter. They put themselves in a box.
