There are places in the US (I won't name names) where the natives and local residents must constantly remind you how great their city is by shoving its positive attributes in your face every chance they get. You see it all of the time in city vs. city threads.
However, there are the places where the opposite is true as well. Their positive attributes tend to fly under the radar and you typically don't encounter people who are natives or local residents of that city who brag about them. They sort of feel comfortable in their own skin without always trying to prove their stature.
For the purpose of this thread, so it doesn't get too messy, I limited the choices to major cities with "major" being the top 16 MSAs by population (excluding Inland Empire).

Most boosters are just showing their insecurities but they’ll grow out of it someday. But to try and answer the post, there are some places that stay in their lane and even though this is not a “Top 16” MSA I have always thought that Kansas City, Missouri residents don’t brag even though I think it’s a sleeper city that offers a lot.
none of them really lol but the most humble I'd say
irl: Phily
on cd: Houston
Philadelphia was definitely one of the cities I thought about when creating this thread.
I think Minneapolis qualifies too, which can likely be tied back to Minnesota's scandinavian roots as part of their culture consists of being fairly reserved and not showy.
I feel like Phoenix almost doesn't even consider itself a major city.
Generally newer cities have less pretension. Like Houston.
I think Phoenix is something of an anomaly in that it seems to act more like an attractive region without an urban core so to speak. People, especially families and retirees, move there for affordable suburban housing and its suburban/regional assets and destinations. It's a lifestyle city whose suburban neighborhoods/suburbs and outlying natural areas take center stage far above anything else.
Neither really care about be top dog and just do their own thing
