Wyandotte KS is interesting, I wouldn't have guessed it was so diverse. I've thought of KC as one of those older Midwestern metros that's mainly white/black.
Also that DuPage IL is more diverse (actually significantly so) than Lake IL --- I associate Lake with towns like the Round Lakes that have large Hispanic populations, and places like Waukegan and Zion with large black populations, and I associate DuPage with affluent, sprawling white suburbs. But I guess inner DuPage (Addison, Elmhurst etc.) has been getting more Latino inflow recently, and the affluent, farther-out suburbs like Naperville are close to a lot of tech employers so they've been attracting more Asian inflow.
Lake County is interesting to look at from a economic and race standpoint. It contains a lot of upper middle to very affluent towns(even more so than Dupage IMO) in its southern portion, many in which are over 80% white, while the northern portion is almost polar opposites and at the same time contains a couple of the most racially/ethnically balanced communities with white/black/hispanics coexisting in near equal proportions along the lakefront in North Chicago and Zion, in addition to some Asians (5% in both) and just as many people who identify as multiracial for good measures. Also, it amazes me that Highland Park, Deerfield, Lake Forest, and Lake Bluff's affluence haven't bled into Waukegan(county's largest city and county seat) to make it more like Naperville/Wheaton or even a big Highwood(north shore suburb that's >50% Hispanic). It's like two different counties with an unofficial county line at the border of Lake Bluff and North Chicago, with the southern half looks more like an extension of North/Northwest Cook County.
Will County is also up there in diversity, 3 groups are >10% and the 4th represents an average percentage. Racially/ethnically, it's a close enough microcosm of Illinois and the US. https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fa...L,US/PST045219
I'm going to take this in a different direction. Lane county in Oregon ranges from the Pacific Ocean on the west side to the Cascade mountain range on the east. Within 2 hours you can be skiing in powder snow to clamming for littlenecks to harvesting crabs on the reefs. You can fish in pristine rivers like the Middle Fork Willamette (where I live) to fishing for Chinook salmon, Coho, winter and summer Steelhead. You can forage for numerous mushrooms (pay attention to the species!).
The population is mostly white, but I'm seeing more and more people of color, including African American, Hispanic, and many Asian cultures moving here.
To top it off, the weather is great, mild winters and warm, but usually not hot summers. We do get our share of rain, but we are currently experiencing a drought.
Over all, not a bad place to live.
In this post Ill take some of these counties and look at how many have immigrants groups that represent over 1% of the counties population. The larger number of groups, the more diverse the county is.

Highlighted in bold the counties without the primary or secondary city of an either mid-size or major metro as a part of their county. Essentially the most "suburban" with regards to not having a major "anchor city" of a large metro within the county, and which are the most diverse.
The first seven are either in New York or DC metro area, and have 9 of the top 11 most diverse "suburban" counties. And this is with Queens excluded since it's a part of NYC, although I'm wavering on that a bit since parts of Queens are pretty far removed from the city's core.
Edit, Fort Bend, TX outside of Houston is in the top too.

Its a good point. While Im talking about ethnicities and races, natural diversity is also valuable.

China also goes to Lake IL, and it's just over or very slightly under 1% Korean depending on if using ACS 1 year or 5 years estimate.
Champaign County IL has 4 countries: China, Mexico, India, and Korea

Yeah, though Hudson County is about the same size and population as the city of Boston. We’re pretty darn urban.

I know those NJ counties are pretty urban. My point on "suburban" was to say those counties highlighted don't have either the primary city or secondary city of their respective metros. Not the actual urban/suburban layout of the housing. Therefore completely a suburb in the absence of the metro's major city.
