Having grew up in San Diego but visited there several times as an an adult, and currently living in San Antonio, San Diego for sure. It’s just more polished. Having said that, San Antonio has several of those dont judge a book by its cover bars, where it’s interesting and unique inside. However, the pearl bars closes like at midnight, the st Mary strip is just bars down a street making it hard to walk from one end to another, plus the parking just sucks, the gay strip is literally just a block of the the same bar vibes with the same music and same patrons jumping around, and river walk is just a crowded tourist with KIDS that you just want to push them out of the way into the river lol.

Never been to San Antonio, but I lived in SD for 5 years and hated the nightlife there. So I guess I don't know...but I'd choose San Antonio because at least it would be new to me even if I didn't like it.

honestly i feel like most of the nightlife spots that would be comparable to SD/LA type of spots are out between UTSA and Stone Oak. people visiting here definitely never go out there or even know it exists.

Neither is great but I would choose San Diego based on its larger size….also depends what age group you are in. San Diego is very good when you are a college student up to your late 20’s /maybe early 30’s (craft beer bars, CBD lounges, a few nightclubs, Tijuana access, casual beach bars etc) but not beyond…where it lost its appeal for me was the limited nightlife options for professional adults 35 and older found in other cities—but for a younger person it and areas—such as The Gaslamp and Pacific Beach—are fine.

Have been to both(SD many times SAT only once) and would have to give the clear advantage to SD. Gas Lamp district alone dominates in nightlife vs San Antone .
